SAVANNAH, Tenn. — Many gathered at Tennessee Street Park in an effort to honor and appreciate law enforcement officials and other emergency personnel. The event was created by Riverview Baptist Church Pastor Allen Guyer. “We just felt that we need to acknowledge our police officers, our fire people, EMS, all the AirVac people, and just our emergency personnel. We needed to honor them for what they do,” Guyer said. Hardin County Sheriff Sammy Davidson was there as well. He said he’s very grateful for the support. “As an officer, we really appreciate what they’ve done today, even though the weather was a little wet, but we’re still enjoying it. You can tell by the crowd,” Sheriff Davidson said. Savannah Mayor Bob Shutt also made an appearance at the event. Anytime we get a church that wants to honor our law enforcement, we’re certainly pulling for them, because I don’t think our law enforcement and our first-responders get enough attention,” said Mayor Shutt. This is the very first emergency personnel event held by Riverview Baptist Church. Pastor Guyer said there’s a possibility more might happen in the future.
