TRENTON,Tenn.– It wasn’t the rain that brought the swamp to West Tennessee Sunday. There was an almost constant drizzle Sunday afternoon, but that didn’t dampen spirits at the First Annual Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Expo. “The response has been phenomenal despite mother nature,” organizer Phil Colwell said. Swampers young and old battled the weather in their boots and umbrellas, all for a quick snap. “This is an opportunity that only happens very seldom and we’re in Trenton and they’ve come all the way to Trenton and people have responded,” Colwell said. Hundreds of people stood in line to visit some of Southern Louisiana’s most famous gator hunters, The Swamp People. Liz, Justin, Glenn, and Jessica from the History Channel’s popular show visited with fans on the rainy afternoon. “It’s different when they come to our neck of the woods in South Louisiana. It’s like a different world, and when we come up here it’s different for us too. It’s amazing the outpouring of people that watch that show,” Liz Choate, also known as the Gator Queen, said. “We don’t consider ourselves any different than them, we just as interested in what they do as they are in what we do,” Justin Choate said. Despite their fame for grabbing life at the jaws, they brought a Southern hospitality with them that welcomed everyone.
