JACKSON, Tenn. — Racking up miles and praying for a community, Pastor Walter Chick McGill is on a two-day prayer walk in the Hub City. The pastor from Guys, in McNairy County, has trekked more than 3,500 miles nationwide. As a Vietnam veteran, McGill walked along Highland Avenue Wednesday and saluted every passing car. He says he hopes to inspire families to spend more time together without gadgets. “Families need to get back together,” McGill said. “Mothers and fathers need to get their little ones away from the gadgets, away from the television and sit down and have family time. Pray together, talk together and show each other respect and quit chasing money.” McGill says he’d love to have community members join him Thursday. He’ll be walking from 45 South to the eastern and central parts of Madison County. Look for him around 10 a.m.
