Administrators honored for work in Tennessee education
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Washington County elementary school principal and Shelby County supervisor are being honored for their work in Tennessee education.
Ridgeview Elementary Principal Peggy Greene was named Tennessee’s 2015-16 Principal of the Year this week during a statewide conference for education leaders.
Sharon Griffin, a regional superintendent of Innovation Zone Schools in Shelby County, was named Supervisor of the Year.
The awards recognize administrators who have helped provide educational opportunities for students through their leadership, programs, and vision.
Greene helped open Ridgeview seven years ago. Since then, the school has seen significant increases in proficiency in all subject areas and was recognized as a Reward School for 2014.
Griffin has served in education for 24 years. She was responsible for creating a district-wide turnaround office to address needs of underperforming schools.
