Some Jackson firefighters to train at senior citizen safety program in Fla.

JACKSON, Tenn. — Some members of the Jackson Fire Department soon will be going to Florida to participate in a safety event. The safety program is sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association. The program holds classes on how to help senior citizens remain safe during certain emergencies as well as prevent potentially deadly falls. “They’re going to tell us how to work the program to target senior citizens who are living alone to teach them about fire safety and fall prevention,” said Rico Bryson with the Jackson Fire Department. Jackson was among only 23 cities across the U.S. and Canada chosen for the program.
