Authorities investigate after councilman shot, hospitalized
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Nashville police says a Metro councilman who was shot after following two men from a gas station told police he followed them because he thought one was a relative.
Police said Thursday that Loniel Greene is in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center recovering from gunshot wounds.
Media outlets report the incident happened at a Marathon gas station on Wednesday night. Police say Greene Jr. was shot three times.
According to a police statement, surveillance video shows Greene pulled up to the gas station, left his car and followed two young men who had just left the lot on foot.
Police say Greene walked back to his car, where he collapsed. He was later found by another driver.
