Marine recruiter in Henry Co. charged with statutory rape
PARIS, Tenn. — The sheriff’s office has charged a U.S. Marine recruiter with statutory rape by an authority figure. Sgt. Steven Joseph Schwartz, 26, of Paris is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual relations with a female minor in Paris in October, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say Schwartz met the victim and started a relationship with her while in the scope of his duties as a Marine recruiter. Schwartz is being held in the Henry County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 10 in Henry County General Sessions Court.
