Family sets up memorial where son was shot by Jackson officer

JACKSON, Tenn. — Family members held a memorial Friday night in memory of a 20-year-old shot and killed one year ago by a Jackson police officer. Cinque D’Jahspora’s father went to the place his son was shot. The family filed a lawsuit Thursday claiming wrongful death against the city and the police department. The family announced the $8 million suit at a news conference Friday morning. “What happened to our son is part of a larger phenomenon around this country, and we recognize there are many families,” said L’Sana D’Jahspora, father of Cinque D’Jahspora. Police say dashcam video shows Cinque D’Jahspora throw a hammer before stabbing officer Raymond Bond. The family says in the lawsuit their son was not a threat.
