Annual Celtic Fest held in Parkers Crossroads

PARKER’S CROSSROADS, Tenn. — The 10th annual Celtic festival took place at Parker’s Crossroads City Park. The event was a two day festival that allowed people to come together and experience Celtic culture. Event Coordinator Bobby Bates said the event is about exploring ancestral roots. “This is really about heritage, people getting connected with their family that came before, who their related to now, and what they plan to do in the future.” Many attendees were not first time visitors. “I’ve been here every year since the festival’s inception, and it just keeps getting better. We need to get more people here and get more people introduced to the Celtic culture. Everyone has got some Celtic in them, whether they know it or not,” said attendee Steve Burke. Most of the money raised in the festival will be given to charity. “We’re a charity of an event. So every year we have a different charity usually. Right now we’re trying to raise awareness for the State Cemetery that’s going up right here at Parker’s Crossroads,” said Bates. The Celtic Fest was originally created by the Celtic Society of West Tennessee back in 2005.
