Family surprises Jackson woman for 99th birthday

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman who has seen nine decades of life got a big birthday wish on Wednesday. Flossie Mae Baker celebrated her 99th birthday Wednesday with her family and friends at her home. Baker’s house was decorated with 99 balloons, 98 of which were outside and the 99th inside. The birthday girl had a simple answer when asked what advice she’d give people to live as long as she has. “My advice to all humans — to live right, love God and love your neighbor as yourself. Hallelujah,” Baker said. Baker and her family led a parade around her neighborhood in their cars to mark the occasion. Family members said they also plan to celebrate Wednesday night at church.
