Officer is shot during domestic violence call in Tennessee
GALLATIN, Tenn. (AP) – A Middle Tennessee sheriff says an officer has been shot after answering a domestic violence call.
Sumner County Sheriff Sonny Weatherford told The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1MnF9P8 ) an officer in Beth Page was shot late Wednesday afternoon when he exited his patrol car and approached the home. Weatherford said the injuries are not life-threatening.
Weatherford said multiple shots were fired from the house, and the officer, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, likely suffered some broken ribs from the impact. He said it appears the shots were intended for the officer, who hasn’t been named.
The sheriff said charges are pending.
