JACKSON, Tenn. — As part of an effort to spotlight the importance of technical education, a local school is honoring one of their best and brightest. The Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Jackson has named Andy Bell as their Outstanding Student of the Year, according to a release from the school. Bell is enrolled in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning program and was selected by a committee of community business, civic and industry leaders after being nominated by his instructor, Gary Carter. Bell now will move on to the West Tennessee regional interviews in January. From this round of interviews, nine winners will compete for the state title in April in Chattanooga. The winner of the state title, which is awarded for excellence in leadership and technical skill, will be awarded the grand prize of a new car.
