Students vs. faculty charity game at Jackson Christian funds good cause

NORTH JACKSON — A basketball game at Jackson Christian on Friday pitted teachers against their own students. It was student vs. faculty in Jackson Christian’s seventh annual charity basketball game. The proceeds of the event typically help fund the school’s baseball program, but this year they had a better reason to hit the hardwood. All proceeds of this year’s charity game are going to help an alumnus who will be undergoing brain surgery in the coming weeks. The school says causes like this are what teaching through high school athletics is about. “Trying to convey priorities to our kids and trying to convey opportunities to lead and opportunities to help others, and it’s just that — an opportunity,” said Chuck Cooper, baseball coach at Jackson Christian. Organizers say in years past the game has raised a couple thousand dollars. And in case you’re wondering, the faculty won 64 to 53.
