Local businesses see Thanksgiving business boost

NORTH JACKSON — With less than two days to prepare for a Thanksgiving feast, a number of local businesses are reaping the benefits. There were full parking lots at supermarkets and a steady flow of traffic in and out of stores, especially for businesses who specialize in Thanksgiving grub, such as Reggie’s BBQ & Wings. The restaurant says it has hundreds of orders to fill, which will keep them working through the night. “We are doing several hundred,” manager Earl Beard said. “We have actually a pit full of turkeys that we’re going to be deep drying them across the street, which we have a deep fryer post set up over there, and we’ll be smoking turkeys all night long.” A time magazine study says this year’s average cost for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings plus dessert for 10 people comes to $50.11. That’s a 70-cent increase over last year.
