Black Friday Deals arrive on Thanksgiving around West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — One of the busiest shopping days of the season is just days away but there are some retail stores prepared to open Thanksgiving Day, starting the Black Friday deals early. Bargain hunters are already biting their nails. As Black Friday has blurred into Thursday, with many West Tennessee stores opening their doors a day early. “Its always our busiest day of the year. Glad to have it, look forward to it every year. It’s always our busiest,” said Steven Rich. He works at Wireless Dimensions in Old Hickory mall and says he sees a lot of action on Black Friday. “I see a sense of urgency from all of the customers. They want to get in, get their stuff and get out because there is limited supplies of everything.” Some shoppers started early but that wont keep them from the deals later this week. “Only went to 2 stores today so I didn’t really get to check out everything but Friday— I will be in everything and anything. It don’t matter,” said shopper Elgin Steward. Stores at the Old Hickory Mall open as early as 6 pm on Thanksgiving and JC Penny opens at 3 pm. Stores like Target and Best Buy, that have high ticket items, are ready to give the customers as many perks as possible. “iPads are on sale and you get free gift cards with iPads. So $80 up to $100,” said Target manager Dray Holland. “Lots of gift card deals when you buy something you get a gift card with it.” “We have sales on TVs sound bars, head phone and some movies and stuff like that, said Best Buy manager Erika Wilcox. Doors open at Best Buy at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. “It’s definitely our busiest time time of the year, said Wilcox. “We’ve been preparing for a few weeks now.” Wilcox said customers to start lining up as early as 3 p.m. “We will hand out as many tickets as we have TVs available. Once the tickets are gone then the TVs are pretty much gone at that point.” Because sales are now starting on Thanksgiving, many stores have different ‘Door Busters’ for each day. Wilcox said, “Thursday we have more ticketed items like door busters. On Friday it’s more you come in and you grab what you want then get checked out. There won’t really be a line process for Friday.” Some stores like Charlotte Russe have deals ending on Friday but other like Go Calendars have deals that last all weekend. Target opens their doors starting at 6 p.m. Thursday with all of the Black Friday deals starting early. “For instance we got a 55″ TVs that’s gonna be on sale for $249 that’s probably our biggest item,” said Holland. Shoppers said they enjoy the early finds “ya end up with a $80 coat for $29.99 between coupons and 50% off and stuff like that,” said shopper Cindy Landry.
