Hundreds participate in Turkey Day 5K

NORTH JACKSON, Tenn. — Runners took to the streets of Jackson on Thursday before enjoying a big Thanksgiving meal. The 11th annual Gold‘s Gym Turkey Day 5K kicked off at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The gym said more than 850 runners from various skill levels participated. “It‘s just a cool thing to see a mix of people like this get together for a common goal,” Gold‘s Gym Owner/General Manager Steve Roten said. Proceeds from the race benefit the Regional Inter-Faith Association. “This gives us an opportunity for people to go out and have fun, spend time with their family, and so something beneficial for the community,” Roten said. Roten said they hope to raise $15,000 for RIFA.
