Unexpected Black Friday deals draw new crowds

JACKSON, Tenn.—When Black Friday comes to mind most people think of malls, major retailers, and mobs; however many are thinking outside the box this holiday season for Christmas gifts this year, and some stores have some different Black Friday deals to help wrap up your shopping spree for everyone on your list this year. “We’ve done the typical stand in line at Target, at Kohls, the busy places but we’ve need done it at lows before,” Laura and Nathan Bell said. The Bells are newlyweds and are taking advantage of the home improvement sales. “The ladder is like originally $50 and were getting it for $19.99 and the shelf is for $84 and we are getting it for $55.” “People don’t think of lows as a destination shop and we don’t get into the toy business or anything like that we stick to what we’re best at tools and things like that to make our customers happy this time of year,” Lowes store manager Stephanie Roemen said. “You know at the door this morning there was rob ably around 100-200 customers waiting to come in this morning and that’s always exciting the see people waiting we actually had 3 cars with people sleeping in them when I came in at 4 this morning.” Black Friday is all about the deals and steal, and stores like Lowes are cooking up deals to not just save you $10 and $10, but stores like Lowes are saving you hundreds. Larry Prince was at the Victory Honda Dealership getting his oil changed before heading out of town. “They asked me do you want to win a car for a dollar? I was kind of skeptical about it but I was just sitting here waiting on my oil to get done,” Prince said. And talk about a Black Friday deal… “I just stood by the Altima and when I lifted the hood up there was a dollar,” Prince said. The 2005 Nissan Altima retailed at $6,900 according to management. Petsmart was also offering deals for man’s best friend….and the hottest selling item….cat litter. “For the price that they are giving it away at pretty much you can get two for what you would normally pay for one. so I thought it was well worth it and they go through it so,” Tina Pocius said.
