New app developed to help homeless people
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) — A new app developed at Northern Kentucky University aims to help homeless people in the Cincinnati area.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports the Street Reach app allows members of the public to report when they see a homeless person. The electronic report goes to street outreach services.
Kevin Finn, president and CEO of Strategies to End Homelessness, said people who use the app can ensure that homeless people they encounter get aid, especially as winter arrives.
NKU professor of social work Rachael Winters said the app also educates the public about resources available for homeless people.
The free app is available in the Android store or on the web at www.streetreachcincy.com .
