GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn.-Hundreds came out Monday night to an event to show support for first responders who serve their communities each day. In Gibson County, officers from various agencies attended the ‘Back the Badge’ event. Along with a prayer service and a ‘meet and greet,’ attendees heard from various speakers. Organizers said this event gives the public an opportunity to see each officer as more than just law enforcement. “If they don’t meet us and they don’t get to know us, we become alienated from these people. So, it’s important to us to meet these people as much as possible, interact with them, tell them our names let them see our families and show them we are human just like them,” said Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas. Organizers said the show of support for current as well as fallen officers is truly inspiring.
