ALAMO, Tenn. – Crockett County’s football team has a simple objective in Week 11. The Cavaliers must beat Lexington to earn a postseason berth. “When you go into the season, you say win all your region games and you’re in” head coach Kevin Ward said. “When it comes down to you have to win to get in, this is new for me.” Crockett County’s postseason hopes looked bleak after Week 7. The Cavaliers were 1-3 in the Region 7-4A after a 39-0 loss to North Side. The team has rallied off three consecutive wins since that defeat. “Over the last three weeks, this is kind of position we put ourselves in,” Ward said. “After we played Chester County, we told our kids it’s going to be hard to get in with four losses. We were basically trying to prepare ourselves for the playoffs going into Week 8.” The Cavaliers aren’t the only team fighting for a playoff berth. The Big Red Tigers can also clinch a spot with a win on Friday. “We win, we’re in. That’s kind of what we’ve been talking to our players about,” Ward said. “Hopefully, they’ll play with that intensity they know they have to beat a really good football team.”
