Fiery crash in Haywood County claims one life

NEAR BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — Officials in Haywood County confirm a head on crash on Hwy 54 North has claimed one life. Investigators said the vehicles collided and burst into flames around 2 p.m., Wednesday. According to Haywood County Emergency Management Director Bob Parks, the driver of the SUVthat collided with a semi-truck, was fatally injured. Parks said it appeared the driver of the 18-wheeler was uninjured. The crash also sparked a fire in a nearby soybean field, which has been extinguished. Traffic along the highway has been shut down as investigators try to determine what caused the deadly wreck. No further details have been released at this time.
