JACKSON, Tenn.-Time is not the only thing that should change this weekend. Fire officials said you should also change your smoke detector’s batteries. First responders said now is the time to stock up on batteries. Saturday night, when you set your clocks back an hour, firefighters said go ahead and replace smoke detector batteries, too. “It’s imperative for homeowners and families to adopt this life-saving habit of changing your batteries when you change your clocks because it gets you in the routine of checking your smoke alarms which is so important for early detection in the event of a fire,” said Rico Bryson with the Jackson Fire Department. They ask you also remember to change the batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors, too.
