JACKSON, Tenn. — No need to go to New York or Paris. Tuesday, Jackson was the place to be for fashion, fun and fighting cancer. Runway for a Cure took over the Carl Perkins Civic Center with a live runway show and silent auction. Local models walked the runway in outfits styled by 10 local shops and boutiques.
Of course, the focus was the fight against breast cancer. Many survivors and those currently battling the disease were in attendance. “Until this disease is totally and completely cured, we have a huge battle on our hands,” event chairman Kristi Turnbow said. “We need to make sure every single woman we know is out there fighting.” Turnbow estimated more than $50,000 was raised this year, all benefiting the American Cancer Society. This is the 21st year for Runway for a Cure in Jackson.
