JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Beer Board fined four local business for selling alcohol to minors. Representatives from each business appeared before the board Tuesday to explain their side of the story. “Everybody makes mistakes, myself included,†Eddie Yeh said. Yeh owns Asia Garden, one of four Jackson businesses caught selling beer to minors. The Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Asia Garden served alcohol to minors working with investigators twice within the past three years. “I’m taking it seriously,†Yeh said. “You know I’m taking this opportunity to kind of tighten up what we’re doing.†The beer board issued Asia Garden, Los Portales, and the BP on the Highway 45 Bypass a $1,500 fine each. Logan’s Roadhouse got a smaller $1,000 fine. They had their staff get extra training to prevent it from happening again. All four must pay within 10 days or have their beer licenses suspended for 30 days. “What we’re seeing is very few of the people deliberately sell to underage, they just make mistakes, but the consequences are the same,†Jackson City Attorney Lewis Cobb said. Cobb said investigators do alcohol checks every month or two. “They’re supposed to check IDs and we check they’re checking,†he said. Yeh said he plans to provide his staff with extra training. “Whatever extra training is available we’re all for it,†he said. Representatives with BP, Logan’s Roadhouse, and Los Portales declined to comment on camera. The beer board also approved beer licenses Tuesday for two businesses, the H & J Lounge and Tobacco Worlds, Inc.
