JACKSON, Tenn — No need to take your lunch to work Friday. Just stop by the Police Department instead, and you can grab a bite and help out a very special family. Starting at 11:00 tomorrow morning, the department will hold a special cookout to raise money for Abby, the daughter of a local officer, now fighting Respiratory Distress Syndrome. “I would hope people would come out to show their support for a family in need, not just as an officer that serves the community, but as a human being that you know we love and care about,” benefit organizer Brittany Wood told WBBJ Thursday. Donations can be made to Sharon Massey at the Jackson Police Department, or through the West Tennessee Healthcare foundation’s “Officer Benefit” fund.
