Police detain suspects in Crockett Co. bank robbery
ALAMO, Tenn. — Two suspects are quickly taken into custody following a Friday morning bank robbery in Alamo. Alamo police said the BancorpSouth branch, located in the 500 block of South Bells Street, was robbed at 9:45 a.m. According to the police chief, employees said a black man walked in with what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from two tellers. It’s unclear how much money was taken. No injuries have been reported. Investigators confirm there are four crime scenes involved in this case. The first was in Memphis where a gray Nissan Versa was stolen. That stolen vehicle was located just a few miles from the bank in Alamo. The second location is the BancorpSouth location. The third is where Crockett County deputies stopped the two male suspects in another car just after 10 a.m. on Hwy 70/79 near the Haywood County line.
