Task Force seizes drugs, guns and cash
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Agents of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force in the 28th Judicial District find drugs, guns and cash inside a home outside of Milan Wednesday. Agents said they went to 224B Germantown Road to serve an active drug arrest warrant for Mark Jones. During the arrest, agents said they could smell an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the residence. After a search warrant was issued to search the home, agents said they found 1 ½ pounds of marijuana, over 150 controlled pills, electronic scales , five firearms and more than $3,000 in cash. Agents said they utilized the assistance of a K-9 unit from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office for the search. Mark and Katie Jones were arrested on the scene and charged with possession of schedule II and VI controlled substances with intent to sell. Mark Jones is facing additional felony firearms charges, according to the Task Force. Agents said they utilized the assistance of a K-9 unit from the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office for the search. Special agent in charge Johnie Carter said that the Task Force is very appreciative of Sheriff Paul Thomas for providing the Canine teams to them. “Dogs are an important tool in the fight against drugs and the sheriff has made that tool available to the Task Force at a moment’s notice, which makes our job much easierâ€, Carter said. Both Mark and Katie Jones are currently released on bond, both are awaiting an initial court appearance for arraignment.
