West Tennessee bikers help students afford college
JACKSON, Tenn.-An annual bicycle tour will help local students afford college. Organizers of the bicycle tour presented a check to the Jackson State Community College Foundation to fund student scholarships. ‘Bagels and Bluegrass’ is a one-day cycling event with routes from 14 to 100 miles. Pinson Mounds and Chickasaw State Parks will also benefit from the proceeds. “It gives a different channel of funds from what you would normally think of and its something that is not just special to us but its more importantly special to students,” said Dr. Bruce Blanding, President of Jackson St. Community College. More than 100 bikers took part in the annual event.
