Officer praised for helping teenage boy in need
COVINGTON, La. (AP) – A Covington police officer has received praise for going above and beyond the call of duty to help a teenage boy.
The Times-Picayune reports Chief Tim Lentz on Wednesday praised officer Bret Miller for buying clothes for a student after dropping him off at school.
Miller recently responded to the child’s home after he had missed his bus and needed a ride.
Miller gave the student a ride and noticed his pants were torn and tattered. The boy said it was the only pair he had that met the school’s dress code.
After dropping him off, Miller went to a store and used his own money to buy two pairs of pants for the student.
Lentz says Miller’s action will have a positive impact on the child.
