Sacred Heart soccer program donates toys to sick kids

JACKSON, Tenn. – Sacred Heart’s soccer program is full of Christmas spirit.

The Knights boys and girls team started off their Monday by donating toys to sick kids at the AYERS Children’s Medical Center. This is the second straight year the team has collected gifts for the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

“I think it’s important as a program that you can give back to your local community,” head coach Christopher Harrington said. “Especially at Christmas time to give kids in this hospital a piece of joy.”

During the visit, senior Jack Richardson was the token Santa.

“I was originally going to wear a suit, but I don’t think they could find me one, so he was like Jack you have to wear the Santa hat again,” Richardson told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness Sports.

Richardson says this annual experience reminds him about the true meaning of Christmas.

“People say you receive when you give and that’s something I’ve noticed by doing this,” Richardson said. “By giving to others I’ve received the joy and the happiness just to see them be happy.”
