Jackson-Madison Co. Library celebrates with open house

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County Library hosted dozens Wednesday for its holiday open house.

Impromptu caroling was only part of the festivities for the community as the library purchased and gave away four Kindle e-readers during the party.

Library staff say the gifts will allow bookworms to access even more reads through the e-library.

Director Dinah Harris says she wanted the holiday event at the library to spread the magic of Christmas.

“One of the reasons we started this was because of the poverty we see and people we were afraid might not even have a Christmas, and this isn’t much but Christmas is all about love anyways,” Harris said.

An afternoon of bingo followed the party. Harris says she hopes to host more community events like this in 2016.
