Former first responder accused of statutory rape gets new court date

JACKSON, Tenn. — A former West Tennessee first responder accused of raping an underage girl appeared Monday in court.

Matthew McKnight is charged with statutory rape. His attorney went before a judge Monday in Brownsville. The judge pushed his next court date back to Jan. 11.

Authorities said McKnight was a volunteer member of the Humboldt Area Rescue Squad.
