Local EMA officials urge preparedness for severe weather

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Local emergency officials say it is important to prepare before any severe weather, including having plans to contact family members and neighbors in the aftermath of any storm or disaster.

They say to have extra water and food on hand and to be sure to have batteries and extra clothing should you lose power for an extended time.

Also, you should have your emergency plan in place on where to take shelter during the storm.

“We’ve already talked to the Red Cross. We’ve talked to other first responders and we have them ready to go and will be opening shelters,” said Marty Clements, director of Madison County EMA.

The Carl Perkins Civic Center has already been opened as a temporary shelter.
