Red Cross responds after regional storm damage

JACKSON, Tenn. — With all of the damage that ravaged the Mid-south and West Tennessee Wednesday night, a lot of people are still in need.

The Red Cross mobilized dozens of volunteers overnight and Christmas Eve morning, sending supplies and essentials to those who lost everything.

Volunteers say their main goal is to get those affected back on their feet as soon as possible.

“We provide comfort care — blankets, teddy bears for the kids — and then we also help them to get resettled. So if they need a hotel for a few days or if they need clothing, food or water,” said Disaster Program Manager Heather Carbajal.

If you’d like to help some of the families affected by Wednesday night’s storms, you can donate by visiting www.redcross.org.
