Community spreads Christmas cheer to Trenton PD

Trenton Christmas Gift

TRENTON, Tenn. — On Christmas those who have to work through the holidays are often forgotten. But Friday morning in Trenton a group of residents came out to make sure that wasn’t the case.

The Trenton Police Department received a Christmas of their own, a holiday meal, donated from the community.

“They’re not able to be at home with their families opening presents and things like that,” organizer Donna Scott said. “They’re out here keeping us safe so I wanted to bring them a good meal.” secs

Lieutenant James Wilson with Trenton Police said working holidays is part of the job but this unexpected gift showed the true magic of Christmas.

“The donation of the meal is a wonderful thought and a wonderful gesture,” Lt. Wilson said. “We’re just really appreciative.”

But lunch wasn’t their only gift, the owners of Rustic Flag Company also donated a one-of-a-kind american flag to hang for all to see in the department’s lobby.

“We’re gonna display it proudly,” Lt. Wilson said. “The symbol of the flag is the symbol of our country, symbol of our patriotism, symbol of our commitment to serve the community.”

And that service is exactly why the Scott’s said they decided to give back.

“We wanted do something for our local community and give something to them,” Scott said. “Maybe shed a little light to the fact that these service men whether they be military, law enforcement or even paramedics they all work the holidays.”

The Scott’s said this is the first year they decided to help out first responders during the holidays and they hope to expand it to other agencies next year.
