Residents concerned about apartment conditions
South Fulton, Tenn. — Residents living in Southside Manor Apartment homes said that recent renovations have caused their homes to literally start falling apart.
Corey Jones is having a hard time celebrating Christmas with his family this year after his roof caved in Tuesday morning. “We have three small children that live in this place, and anyone could gotten hurt while the ceiling was collapsing,” said Jones.
Jones say the roof collapsed after an attempted renovation, all while his entire family were home. He says his family was moved to another apartment, and the only thing they were offered as compensation was a $60 wal-mart food card. “They’re treating us like second and third class citizens, they don’t care about anyone but themselves.”
Other residents say they’ve been living in unsafe living conditions such as mold, and rain damage. According to those residents, management has done nothing has done about it. “I had water coming out of the electrical sockets, that’s not safe. I had [water] coming out of the walls. It flooded my entire house all the way down the hallway,” said Southside Manor resident Tiffany Smith.
Tiffany Smith says she’s notified management on numerous occasions, and no one ever came out to properly fix the problem. She even had to clean up all the water herself.
