End approaches for making donations in time for tax deductions
JACKSON, Tenn. — The end is near for getting in donations for tax write-offs, and second-hand stores including Goodwill accept new or gently used items in exchange for tax deductions.
Officials with Goodwill say donations must be itemized in order to get the tax break.
Goodwill stores accept items including clothing, furniture and computers.
“It’s through these donations that Goodwill is able to fund our mission of providing employment and training opportunities to individuals that have disabilities,” said Tiffany Dodd, a career counselor with Goodwill.
Volunteers with Goodwill say annual donations allow the nonprofit to create about 14,000 jobs across the country.
