Woman faces attempted murder charges in weekend shooting
JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson woman accused of shooting into a vehicle Saturday night appeared Monday in city court on attempted murder charges.
Laporsha Spinks is facing four counts of attempted first-degree murder after police say she fire about 10 gunshots into a vehicle with four women inside in front of a Courtland Street residence, according to court papers.
Police responded to the shooting just before 11 p.m.
Soon afterward, they spoke to a woman at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital emergency room who had a gunshot wound to the leg and told them Spinks was the shooter, according to an affidavit.
Two other women in the vehicle also reportedly identified Spinks to the police.
Spinkes is also charged with tampering with evidence after she allegedly gave the handgun used in the shooting along with three spent casings to her boyfriend, according to an affidavit.
Police say they recovered the handgun used in the shooting at a nearby house.
Spinks is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
