Surge of Cold Air by Monday
Weather Update: 6:15 PM Sunday
Today we had a chilly start to the day but the afternoon was mild. Not too bad for the beginning of January. Although things are about to change for tomorrow. Much colder air is in the forecast for Monday.
Tonight temperatures will drop into the low 20s. By the morning clouds will start to increase and temperatures stay cold. It will be a struggle for temperature to get into the upper 30s.
The cold air will be a quick snap that pushes through the midsouth Monday. Temperatures will start to rebound by Tuesday — although, Tuesday still stays on the chilly side.
A cold front out west will be approaching West Tennessee by Thursday. The front will return rain chances to the region through the end of the week and into the weekend. Temps will warm slightly above average before the cooler air take back over and returns temps to seasonal by Saturday.
Even with the rain returning, rainfall totals are not expecting to be substantial enough to aggravate any ongoing flooding.
