Milan mayor walks to work
MILAN, Tenn. — Milan Mayor B.W. Beasley walked to work Monday to kick off the start of his first full week in office.
Beasley and his wife walked about three and a half miles from their home to Milan City Hall.
Voters elected Beasley in November, and he was sworn in Friday. Beasley stopped at a local restaurant along the way to have coffee with people in town. “We talked about job opportunities and the needs of Milan and their concerns, which keeps me focused on what we need to be doing,” he said.
Beasley said jobs are a priority. “We’re going to be working real hard recruiting new industry and jobs and retail for the citizens of Milan,” he said.
Beasley said he hopes the walk sends the message that they are focusing on health and wellness in Milan.
