Weather Update – 3:30 p.m. Monday

Welcome back to the workweek! Cold conditions are giving us a winter wake-up call but warmer weather will follow a warm front that’s expected to pass through on Thursday. Scattered showers are back in the forecast for the end of the week.

Tonight will be a cold night with lighter winds and clearer skies in the forecast. Temperatures will drop to the low and mid 20s by sunrise Tuesday, but I won’t be surprised if a few areas of northwest Tennessee even drop to the teens. Tomorrow afternoon will start a warming trend as winds shift to be out of the southeast. Highs will still be below average, but temperatures will peak in the low to mid 40s tomorrow afternoon under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

High pressure, the system responsible for today’s dry and cold weather will move east toward the middle of the week, allowing for cloudier skies to return. A warm front will bring a few scattered showers to the area on Thursday. Temperatures will get back into the upper 50s by Friday before cooler weather returns over the weekend into early next week.

Stay warm!
