Liberty Tech welcomes new principal

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County School System is welcoming a new principal to the area.

liberty.pngSuperintendent Verna Ruffin has announced that Timothy Gilmer is the new principal of Liberty Technology Magnet High School.

The school’s former principal was fired in August 2015 for allowing non-certified teachers to teach at the school as well as credit recovery and scheduling issues.

“I think he has the passion for students and learning and academics for the total package — a program that makes great schools — and we needed that energy here in Jackson,” Ruffin said.

Gilmer’s first day was Monday, and Ruffin says he will be meeting with faculty, students and parents for the next few weeks.
