Man appears on charge in Christmas Eve robbery
JACKSON, Tenn. — A man appeared Tuesday in city court on a charge stemming from a Christmas Eve robbery.
Jamie Johnson is charged with aggravated robbery on accusations of being one of four men in a car who robbed a woman of her purse, $40 cash and a bottle of medication, according to court documents.
The woman told police she got into a woman’s vehicle around 9:30 p.m. Dec. 24 at a hotel on North Highland Avenue along with four men she didn’t know.
She said the men demanded money and pills and that the driver tried to take her purse. One of the men in the back seat then allegedly pistol whipped her in the head several times. She told police the other men also helped in taking her property by holding her arms and hitting her.
Police say they developed Johnson as a suspect and that the woman picked him out of a photo lineup as one of the men in the vehicle.
