The second annual Blue Strong event is scheduled for Thursday night at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.

The Jackson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol and other members of law enforcement will be honored.

Police want people to come out and show their support for the men and women who keep our community safe. “For us to be effective, it’s going to take not just the law enforcement agencies, but it will take the community working hand in hand, working together,” said Sgt. Derick Tisdale with the Jackson Police Department.

Law enforcement said the event will include a special appearance by the son of a fallen Madison County deputy.

“It’s going to be special, and don’t worry about the rain,” Madison County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Tom Mapes said. “Put on a raincoat or a jacket. Come on down, and it’s free to the public and it will be memorable.”

The program starts at 6 p.m. Thursday and is expected to last about an hour.
