Flyer urges citizens to take action on Vision 2020 plans
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Some Madison County residents have been finding a flyer in their mailboxes urging them to take action about the school system’s Vision 2020 plans.
They urge voters to contact their county commissioners about a potential referendum involving the plan. It’s unclear who is responsible for the flyers.
The red flyer asks residents to tell their commissioners to vote for a “non-binding” referendum so it can be voted on.
Officials say this is the same referendum that failed to reach the floor in December’s County Commission meeting.
“The resolution, basically if you read the resolution, is a non-binding resolution. It’s nothing more than a survey to get how people feel and looking for support. But you can’t go back and re-do what’s already been done,” Madison County Commission Chairman Gary Deaton said.
The legislative committee meets Monday where Deaton says the referendum will be discussed again.
If approved, the referendum would be voted on in the commission’s Jan. 19 meeting.
