School leaders discuss need for new school
DYER, Tenn.-The Gibson County Special School District held a community meeting Thursday evening, focusing on the need for a new school in Medina.
Board members talked about potentially closing the current Medina Elementary School building and constructing a new school in a different location.
The move comes in order to accommodate growth in Medina, which sits just across the Madison County line. The district is considering both adding on to existing schools or building a new elementary school.
“I hope they feel like that they’ve been able to voice their opinions, that they have been heard and that we took their opinions into account,” said Eddie Pruett, director of the Gibson Co. Special School District.
School officials said a resolution could be reached as early as next week.
