Autopsy: Hattiesburg man died of blunt force trauma

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Officials say an autopsy has confirmed that a 35-year-old man found dead at his Hattiesburg home earlier this week died of blunt force trauma.

Forrest County Coroner Butch Benedict tells The Hattiesburg American it was evident no weapons were used in Nicholas Brown’s death.

According to Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler, Brown’s body was discovered at his home early Monday by a homeowner during a welfare check.

Authorities say his roommate, 46-year-old Steven Armstrong, is charged with first-degree murder in Brown’s death. He was booked into Forrest County Jail. His initial court appearance is scheduled Friday. It isn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.

Officials had said the victim was involved in an altercation, which resulted in death.
