Weather Update: 6:30 AM Friday

Things are slowly starting to dry out across the area. We get a brief break in the rain this afternoon before more will make its way into West Tennessee overnight. Current temperatures are already in the low 50s for most of the area. This afternoon the warming trend continues and temps could near that 60 degree mark.

This afternoon we may see an isolated sprinkle but we aren’t expecting widespread showers just yet. Those will start to arrive later this evening and into the overnight hours. The rain will be the leading edge of some very cold air. West Tennessee is under marginal risk for severe weather when that rain does arrive. That is a low risk but we could still be dealing with strong and damaging winds and frequent lightning. Isolated heavy rain at times is possible as well.

By Sunday morning, any lingering rain showers could fall a frozen precipitation because of how cold it will be around the area. Temperatures will be on a gradual decrease throughout the day on Sunday. Any frozen precip we do see early on Sunday won’t stick to the ground because it will still be too warm.

By Sunday afternoon things will start to clear out and Monday remains cold.
