Bridal Show comes to the Hub City

Brides to be attend the bridal show at the Civic Center

JACKSON, Tenn. — Hundreds of people were in Jackson hoping to plan one of the most special days of their lives. The Carl Perkins Civic Center was packed Sunday afternoon with folks looking to make their wedding day perfect.

“We have hundreds of brides coming in today checking out the local vendors, businesses for their wedding,” said Forever Communications Event Coordinator Ashley Thomas. “Anything you can think of for a wedding, it’s here.”

This year’s “Rings of Love” bridal show attracted a lot of couples still looking to check some big items off their checklist.

“The food,” said bride-to-be Brandy Williams. “And he doesn’t have have suits for the groomsmen, and I still don’t know where I’m going to get my dress from.”

“Right now we’re still looking for a location and wedding gowns and things like that,” said bride-to-be Candice Onowen.

One bride visiting from Missouri, was able to find what she needed right away.

“As soon as I walked in the door, I found a place that I had found online,” said future bride Heather Stevener. “And found this place here. We went ahead and boked the venue for our day.”

The bridal parties and their entourages were able to search for venues, catering, wedding attire, DJs and of course sample wedding cakes.

“It’s very helpful if you’re just getting started and you’ve never done anything like this before,” said Onowen. “It’s definitely helpful to come check everything out.”

“Its all new to me,” said Williams’ fiance Nick Ross. “New to both of us. So, it’s a one time thing so we’re trying to make it as big and sexy and elegant as possible.”

Although there were many interesting vendors at this year’s bridal show, one unique section was created just for the men.

“We brought back our grooms’ room this year,” said Thomas. “The boys can come and watch football while their women are walking around and getting all the ideas for their wedding.”

“It gives the dads like me and the grooms time to sit back and relax and enjoy some good food and watch the ball game,” said father of the bride Terry Crittendon.

“I haven’t made it up there yet but it looks like we’re gonna be there soon,” said Stevener’s fiance Ethan Vasquez. “Me and my father-in-law, we’re going to ease up there in just a little bit.”

Coordinators say this is the biggest event of its kind in West Tennessee. Each year the bridal show donates part of the proceeds to a local charity.

This years show will benefit The Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
