Police say driver charged in fatal collision in Vicksburg
VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) – A driver has been charged in a Vicksburg collision that killed a man.
According to The Vicksburg Post, police say 29-year-old Jeffrey Jermaine King died Saturday after the car he was driving and another vehicle collided just after 1 p.m.
Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong says King was killed when his vehicle wrapped around a utility pole. Armstrong says King was a Vicksburg native, who was living in Texas.
Armstrong says the other vehicle’s driver, Eddie Patterson, was charged with aggravated DUI. He was taken to a hospital and released into police custody. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
A passenger in Patterson’s vehicle was also treated at the scene and released.
Armstrong says it remains unclear which vehicle caused the crash, but speed was likely a factor.
